The tour · stop 2 of 7 · ordering
The draft is already written.
Every order day, each vendor's draft is waiting: forecast demand for the coverage window, minus what's on the shelf, converted into their cases and their codes at their prices. You nudge a number if you like and hit send, before the first espresso's pulled.
Every quantity weighs running out
against throwing out.
Butter's suggestions come from the newsvendor model, the same math airlines and grocers pay consultants for, tuned per item. It weighs the profit you lose when the case goes empty against the cost of what you'd bin, and lands on the quantity where those two regrets balance.
Milk is not a morning bun
Milk outlives the order cycle, so Butter pads it generously, since safety stock is nearly free. Fresh pastry spoils tomorrow, so it holds the line.
Each vendor's schedule and codes
“We order Thursdays for Monday through Sunday.” “It's cases of 12, and they call our croissant BTRCR-12.” Butter keeps every vendor's schedule, cut-offs, delivery days, pack sizes, minimums and prices straight.
Every line shows its work
Tap a suggestion and see why: what a typical Thursday sells, what the forecast expects, what's on hand, and when the item usually runs out. Selling out before 11:30 reads as missed sales; after 3 p.m., it reads as the item doing its job.
Quantities for each delivery day
For vendors that deliver Mon–Wed–Fri, quantities land per delivery day in a matrix, so Wednesday's pastry case isn't living off Monday's drop.
One click to the vendor
The order becomes a formatted email with a real table that pastes as a table. Send it from Butter, copy it, or hand it to your mail app. Cc the kitchen with a tap.
The planner keeps score
Vendors line up soonest-cutoff first with “order today” and “overdue” badges; mark one done and it sleeps until its next cycle. When everything due is placed, the planner says so: “Every order due today is placed.”
